About
FIAT BIRTH & POSTPARTUM
Birth is personal. It’s physical. And in the hospital, things can move quickly. Steady support makes a difference.
I’m Michal, mama of nine and a birth doula serving families throughout mid-Michigan.
My work as a doula is rooted in calm presence and collaborative care within the hospital, always centered on each family’s unique goals.
My own experiences with hospital birth - across unmedicated and medicated labors, inductions and spontaneous labors, multiples, and unexpected turns - shaped my understanding of how vulnerable and nuanced this season can be. I understand how complex it can feel, wanting safety, clarity, and space to make decisions that feel right for you.
That perspective informs how I support families today: grounded, collaborative, and adaptable as each birth unfolds.
In practical terms, that means steady preparation during pregnancy, calm presence in the hospital room, and thoughtful follow-up in the early days after birth. I help you process information, ask grounded questions, and stay connected to what matters most to you - even when things move quickly.
I work alongside your provider team - not in place of them - offering steady support and helping you stay aligned with your goals.
Birth rarely unfolds exactly as planned. When plans shift or circumstances become difficult, steady support matters even more. I approach every family with compassion, discretion, and deep respect for the weight of this season.
If you're looking for steady, thoughtful support during pregnancy and birth - someone who understands the pace and realities of hospital birth and keeps your priorities at the center - I'd be honored to walk alongside you.
I am currently completing certification as a birth doula through Childbirth International.
